How Khatamly works

Organise a community Quran recitation with one shared link.

  1. 1

    Join a khatam

Open your host's invitation link, or enter its code on Home. If you already belong to the khatam, continue with your existing account.

  2. 2

    Sign in as a reader

Enter your mobile number and verify the six-digit SMS code. Then enter your four-digit reader passcode. If you are new, add your name and choose a passcode. Hosts use their host account to choose their own reading.

  3. 3

    Choose your reading

Tap an available section. For the Quran, choose a whole para, half or quarter where the host allows splits; Para 30 also offers surahs. Dala'il al-Khayrat has eight day sections, and Qasida al-Burdah has ten chapters. Confirm your selection to reserve it.

  4. 4

    Read across your khatams

My Portions shows your reading across all khatams. Use the khatam filter to focus on one. To read and Completed separate outstanding reading from finished sections.

  5. 5

    Mark reading complete

Tap Mark complete after you finish a section. Undo corrects an accidental tap; Completed also lets you mark reading unread. Reserving a section does not mark it complete.

  6. 6

    Return reading when needed

In My Portions, open the three-dot menu on a reading task, choose Return this reading and confirm. Someone else can then take it. Undo may fail if someone has already claimed it.

  7. 7

    Receive encouragement

Your host can send private congratulations for a completed section. Open From your hosts in My Portions to read messages and enable phone alerts. On iPhone, use Khatamly from your Home Screen.

  8. 8

    Keep your details private

Other readers see your chosen name for that khatam. The host can see your real name. Your congratulations are private to you and the sending host. Never share your password, reader passcode or SMS code.
